Mission or Goal of Unit : The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center is expanding and seeking anterior segment surgeons to join our dynamic team. As academic physicians in ophthalmology, we strive to improve vision and eye health through excellence in patient care, education and research.
Chief Purpose of this position
The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center welcomes candidates to apply to this opportunity for Ophthalmologists specializing in corneal / refractive, glaucoma, comprehensive ophthalmology (including cataract / medical retina), and oculoplastics. This is a rare and outstanding opportunity to join a collegial, patient-centered, and forward-thinking department committed to clinical excellence and academic advancement. The department supports a 16-resident ophthalmology training program with a full 5-year ACGME accreditation, providing ample opportunity for teaching and mentorship. Our physician practice group model offers a competitive market-based compensation plan. The position will be offered at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications, with access to the resources and collaborative network of the VCU School of Medicine.

Position Responsibilities
The candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards, adhere to compliance measures, promote collaboration and effective communication among all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing.
