Job Summary

A Network Technician (Hardware) is responsible for installing connectivity solutions, motivating work crews, building customer relationships, and ensuring high-quality, timely installations that meet customer requirements.

Must be able to travel throughout the Eastern US.

Responsibilities

• Experience in Access Control / CCTV programming is a plus.
• Maintain a professional appearance, wearing the company uniform during project duties unless directed otherwise.
• Accept guidance from higher classification team members.
• Understand complex wiring diagrams and installation instructions.
• Download files to USB drives to provision LTE modems and switches.
• Configure switches, UPSs, PDU, and network appliances, including setting privileges and IP addresses.
• Commission cameras, gates, APs, and other network devices.
• Update firmware on devices.
• Terminate fiber optic fittings (SC, ST, LC) efficiently per industry and AFL standards.
• Troubleshoot fiber and WAN connectivity issues.
• Terminate copper cabling according to standards.
• Understand testing requirements for different categories of copper media.
• Complete telecommunication room build-outs, including rack, ladder rack, wiring, and grounding.
• Implement labeling schemes as per project scope.
• Configure and test copper media with appropriate equipment.
• Perform optical attenuation tests on single and multi-mode fibers.
• Use OTDRs to analyze optical fibers.
• Maintain excellent customer relations and professionalism.
• Stay calm and collected in stressful situations.
• Motivate and assign tasks to work crews efficiently.
• Follow company procedures for materials, time, and project management.
• Work with the Project Manager to develop and execute project plans.
• Conduct project walk-throughs and identify concerns.
• Act as a primary contact for customers during installation.
• Manage project materials and ensure proper storage and usage.
• Assign crew leaders and monitor project progress.
• Report weekly on project status to the Project Manager.
• Ensure test equipment is available and operational.
• Ensure installations meet industry standards, codes, and project scope.
• Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Ensure team certification and safety procedures are followed.
• Label cables and components, and archive test results.
• Provide test data and as-built documentation to customers.
• Obtain project acceptance from clients.
• Complete warranty and manufacturer documentation.
• Maintain a tidy worksite and care for company assets.
• Complete administrative paperwork as required.
• Adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies.
• Attend training to maintain vendor certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
