OPERATING ROOM DECONTAMINATION
Time : 55%
Performance of standardized procedures for operating room decontamination as outlined in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual.
Performance Expectations :
- Follows infection control protocols specific to surgical environments. (e.g. hand hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as scrubs, booties, cap, gloves, face shield or mask, etc.)
- Removes and gathers soiled linen from operating room (e.g. places soiled linen in a sealed plastic bag for laundering and takes linen to the laundry hamper).
- Collects clear bag waste and transports to soiled utility room.
- Collects regulated medical waste and places in red bags. Transports red bags to the soiled utility room and places them into a regulated medical waste bin.
- Cleans and disinfects all light fixtures (e.g. surgical light and room lighting fixtures.)
- Cleans and disinfects operating room table and attachments (e.g. warming pad, table pads, table attachments, etc).
- Re-assembles operating room table (e.g. stores attachments on table, wipes metal surfaces under table pads, replaces warming pad).
- Cleans and disinfects all operating room furnishings (e.g. stainless steel tables including legs trays, back-up table and shelf, mayo stands, suction unit, container surfaces, stand, and pedestal, suction unit tubing, waste liner stand, portable stands, stools, IV poles and stands, chairs including bottom of chair supports, cabinets, all sides of the Sequential Compression Devices (SCD) including attached tubing, all sides of the Pace Gerhardt table, under all objects on shelf, etc.).
- Cleans and disinfects operating room walls.
- Cleans and disinfects operating room floor removing visible stains (e.g. blood, povidone-iodine, etc.).
- Restores set-up of operating room to "start position" including placement of furnishings, linen, regulated and non-regulated waste receptacles.
- Inspects for cleaning and disinfection deficiencies through visual and use of ATP monitoring device. Correct any deficiencies by re-cleaning and disinfecting.
SEVEN STEP CLEANING
Time : 10%
Demonstrates performance of standardized procedures for occupied and terminal cleaning of areas as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
Performance Expectations :
Cleans all assigned areas (e.g., center core, corridors, nurses' stations, utility rooms, offices, pantries, laboratories, elevators) within timeframe established by supervisor.Follows established guidelines and procedures for cleaning method used as outlined in the Environmental Service Aide Manual and as explained in trainingFollows established sequence of activities to attain expected end results for seven-step cleaning procedure (e.g., empty trash, high dust, damp wipe / spot clean, dry mop / vacuum, clean bathroom, damp mop, inspection) as outlined in the Environmental Service Aide Manual, as explained in training and as posted at the top of the schedule.Cleans and disinfects all rolling stock in assigned areas (e.g., IV poles, stretcher beds, EKG machines, blood pressure machines, isolation carts) adhering to guidelines and procedures outlined in the Infection Control Manual and as explained in training.Maintains environmental services' staff bathroom and locker room as assigned by supervisor or manager.WASTE HANDLING

Follows established hospital procedures for handling, containment, and disposal of general and infectious waste as outlined in Departmental Policies and Procedures.
Performance Expectations :
Places trash in compactors in utility room on each floor; follows established guidelines and procedures for safe / complete transport and disposal.Breaks up and compacts boxes daily.Ensures bags have no leaks; spot-checks all clear bags thoroughly to determine whether regulated medical waste (e.g., blood-soaked material, body parts) or sharp objects (e.g., needles, scalpels, scissors) are present; notifies supervisor immediately if found.Maintains utility and compactor areas by performing seven-step cleaning procedure.IF APPLICABLE :Removes trash from each OR room according to departmental procedure.Disinfects and hoses down the incinerator area at the end of each shift to maintain low dust levels.Follows procedures as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedures Manual for checking all waste for low levels of radiation, notifies supervisor if radiation is detected.INFECTION CONTROL AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Maintains a safe work environment by following safety and infection control guidelines at all times.
Performance Expectations :
Observes and recognizes posted signs on all room doors and follows appropriate cleaning procedures based on departmental policy and procedures, infection control manual and / or safety procedures.Wears appropriate attire for specific cleaning procedures as per policy and procedures and training.Follows all established safety guidelines for lifting, and operation of equipments.Reports any incidents (e.g., needle sticks, injuries ) to supervisor immediately.Changes uniform immediately after coming into contact with blood or bodily fluid.Changes uniform daily; drops off and picks up uniforms to allow for weekly cleaning.Stores and labels chemicals as per training and departmental Policy and Procedures.Utilizes chemicals only for their intended purpose and approved use.Cleans-up spills only after the nature of the spill is identified following the appropriate safety and infection control protocols as per training.Follows area specific safety procedures (e.g. MRI protocols, radiation safety, etc.)PROJECT WORK

Performs project work as needed / requested, responds to emergency requests, and assists with moves.
Performance Expectations :
Performs project work (e.g., strips and refinishes floors, cleans rugs, washes walls, scrubs shower floors, cleans elevator tracks, steam cleans furniture and rolling stock) as described in initial training and as requested by supervisor, manager, or floor personnel.Assists with emergency requests (e.g., fire emergencies, floods, external spills) as assigned by supervisor or manager.Performs Operating Room Cycle Cleaning project work as assigned by supervisor (e.g., wall washing, floor / shower scrubbing).Performs all tasks according to established cleaning procedures covered in training.PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Maintains all surfaces utilizing departmental procedures for cleanliness and appearance as outlined in the Building Service Aide Manual and in initial training.
Performance Expectations :
Burnishes / buffs floors of clinical areas and corridors according to schedule.Refinishes floors of clinical areas and corridors based upon traffic patterns and supervisor's request.Shampoos, extracts, and spot clean carpets as needed and according to schedule or supervisor's request.Cleans walls in assigned areas once a week.Pay Range : $22.42 - $28.77
