Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a hospital orthopedics and telemetry unit working day shifts with advanced cardiac care requirements.
Responsibilities
Work in an orthopedic-telemetry unit within a Level IV Trauma teaching hospitalAdult and geriatric patient population including orthopedic and cardiac surgical casesUnit features 39 beds with both inpatient and observation patientsPatient ratio is typically 5 : 1, may increase to 6-7 : 1 to cover staff absencesCommon procedures include cardioversion, TEE, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube and central line insertion, and paracentesisExperience with post-cardiac cath, post-angiogram, and PTCA requiredRequired proficiency with heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitro dripsRequired to work 3x12 or 4x12 hour day shifts (7am-7pm), including every other weekendFloating within scope to other areas may be requiredUses Cerner EMR systemFree parking provided for travelersPrimary duties include providing care for orthopedic, observation, and complex cardiac patientsOrientation is held every other ThursdayRoyal blue / white scrubs requiredOpen to blocked schedule requestsHoliday time off requests limited to no more than one of the three major holidaysFirst time travelers are welcomeMajor teaching hospital with strong support and learning environmentRequirements
Active WV or compact RN license required (can submit with license pending)Minimum 2 years of recent orthopedic or telemetry RN experience requiredBLS and ACLS certifications requiredIV start and telemetry monitoring skills requiredMust have experience with post-cardiac cath and PTCA careAbility to titrate and manage cardiac medications as listedMust provide two professional references for considerationCompliance with flu vaccination policy is required unless medically exemptPERM employees may not return as travelers for two years after last date workedMust live at least 100 miles from the facility (75-99 miles requires approval)Benefits
