Overview
Job Summary : Ensure a quality environment for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington staff, patients and visitors by performing low level maintenance, routine safety and security surveillance and sanitizing areas and surfaces using approved disinfectants, equipment and supplies. Ability to bend, climb and lift 50 pounds. Flexible schedule and the ability to travel to multiple building locations.
Responsibilities
- Cleans patient, staff, and public areas using the appropriate cleaning solutions and the 7-step cleaning procedure : high dust all flat surfaces over 6 ft, empty trash receptacles and wipe with germicide, damp wipe / spot clean surfaces under 6 ft, dry mop floors, bathroom cleaning, damp mop, and inspect area for completion.
- Safely operates electric and battery powered cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, burnishes, autoscrubbers, and extractors; remove trash and debris; transport trash and debris properly; complete projects such as floor scrubbing / stripping and refinishing; extract upholstery; clean wheelchairs, lights, vents, and radiators.
- Move clean and / or soiled linen carts to / from patient and other areas; discharge / transfer cleaning (inpatient only) and end-of-day terminal cleaning. Wear protective attire (e.g., goggles, gloves, gowns) for safety. Function as a contributing member of an Environmental Services Team. Conduct routine surveillance of interior spaces and take appropriate action to prevent safety and security policy violations. Lock doors and arm alarms as required. Sweep exterior sidewalks adjacent to entryways. Perform snow removal duties as needed. Alert Facilities team of work orders.
- Low level maintenance such as unplugging toilets and sinks; knowledge of chemical usage and dilutions; remove medical waste receptacles, label and store per procedure; thoroughly clean equipment; stock all paper products and soap. Demonstrate initiative and thoroughness in completing work; comply with Washington State Department of Health guidelines and codes; maintain a safe working environment following OSHA WISHA regulations and KFHPW safety policies.
- Cleans corridors and public areas using the 4-step cleaning procedure and assists with setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
Qualifications
One (1) year of custodial experience in an outpatient setting (preferred).High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) preferred.Customer service and communication skills.Note : External hires must pass a background check and drug screen.
