Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Salem, Virginia 24153 (Roanoke Valley)

Healthcare Setting : Medical / Surgical Unit – 36 beds

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Start Date : January 5, 2026

End Date : April 6, 2026

Shift : 12-hour days (07 : 00-19 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1680-$1800

Employment Type : Travel RN job

Dress Code : Navy Blue / White scrubs (no hoodies, pull-overs, or T-shirts)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state

BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year recent Med / Surg RN experience

Experience with post-operative patients preferred

Competency in dressing changes, wound care, and drain management preferred

Familiarity with Meditech EMR and Baxter IV / Medfusion pumps a plus

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to diverse patients in a 36-bed medical / surgical unit

Care for post-operative patients, including wound care and drain maintenance

Monitor and document patient progress using Meditech EMR

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes

Advocate for patients and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude

Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and dress code standards
