Key Responsibilities :

  • CAD Design and Engineering :

Oversee the creation of 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for aluminum and steel structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

  • Review and approve designs, providing technical expertise and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to explore new materials and design concepts that align with industry trends and standards.
  • Project Management :

    • Manage the design phase of projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project timelines.

  • Work closely with project managers to provide technical support and address design-related issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Coordinate with clients, addressing design concerns and modifications, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Quality Assurance :

    • Implement and maintain quality control processes for CAD designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Conduct regular design reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Technology and Software Management :

    • Stay current with industry trends, CAD technologies, and software tools.

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage CAD software updates and new technologies to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the design team.
  • Ensure that information in CAD is correct and information between CAD and SAGE is seamless.  This includes information in both the Inventory Management and Bill of Materials modules.
  • Collaboration and Communication :

    • Foster effective communication and collaboration between the design team and other departments.

  • Act as a liaison between the manufacturing facility in Ventura, CA, and the administrative office in Knoxville, TN, ensuring alignment in design goals and objectives.
  • Compliance and Regulations :

    • Stay informed about industry-specific regulations, standards, and certifications applicable to aerospace and DOD projects.

  • Ensure that all designs meet relevant compliance requirements and industry standards (ANSI E1.2 and E1.21) and the Aluminum Welding Code (D1.2).
