As a Telephone Operations Engineer II, you will oversee the operations, maintenance, and provisioning of critical switches and systems, supporting both traditional and Voice over IP technologies. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity and reliability for customers across Spectrum’s networks, driving essential communications every day.
Shift Requirement : Sunday - Thurday : 9 pm-6 am
How You’ll Make an Impact
Conduct daily detailed DNHC process for assigned areas of responsibility
Manage all telephony equipment under limited supervision
Follow established guidelines for telephone network daily health check procedures and call out protocols during outage situations
Prepare detailed RCA documentation as a postmortem for critical outages
Configure and troubleshoots SS7, ISUP, and SIP with limited assistance and guides TOE I with execution
Perform installation and turn up of Trunk Groups and augments as determined by Traffic and Capacity Team
Understand telephony circuit architecture concepts, OC12, OC3, DS3, DS1 etc.
Create mops and plan changes in advance with limited assistance
Assume key role in trouble shooting efforts during major outages and provides guidance to TOE I
Assume key roles in all Residential and Business telephony issues
Document switch and telephone network architecture
Assist other TOE in documenting switch and telephone network architecture
Demonstrate IP knowledge, L2, L3, TCP, UDP and telephony equivalents, ability to troubleshoot IP connectivity issues or CCNT
Support all core telephony equipment including hardware and software upgrades, maintenance and expansions
Guide TOE I in implementation
Evaluate and plans for core telephony equipment changes and expansions
Working Conditions
Must be able to work the required shift : Sunday - Thurday : 9 pm-6 am
Office environment
May work in Network Lab environment, 24X7 Network Operations environment, Field Operations environment
Occasional travel as required
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
CCNA / CCIE or other industry certifications
Experience
3+ years Wireline, Wireless, or Broadband telephony switch installation or administration experience
3+ years database management and network configuration work experience
3+ years telephone industry experience
Skills
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to troubleshoot during outage situations
Comprehensive knowledge of telephony disciplines (SBC, VoIP Switch, SIP protocol, etc.)
Ability to effectively work with provider vendors
Ability to maintain professional composure and demonstrate critical thinking during stressful or complex projects
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards

Knowledge of company products and services
In-depth knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, Presentation, Design software and concepts

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
