Job Purpose :
The CNC Fabrication & Design Specialist leads and supports machining and fabrication efforts to deliver high-quality, precise products for all customers. This role combines Solid Works CAD design, CNC programming, machine operation, and maintenance coordination while serving as a technical expert on fabrication equipment. The Specialist will troubleshoot production issues, design solutions, and ensure efficient, safe, and reliable manufacturing operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Design & CAD
- Create and modify 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks.
- Translate customer and engineering requirements into manufacturable parts.
- Participate in design reviews and prototype builds.
- Update and maintain BOMs using Jobscope.
Programming & Machine Operations
Program, set up, and verify parts on waterjet, plasma, brake press, CNC lathe, robotic welder, and other fabrication equipment.Develop CNC programs using CAD / CAM software and validate for accuracy and efficiency.Lead the development and assembly of tooling, fixtures, and jigs as needed.Operate and optimize machines to meet production schedules.Maintenance & Coordination
Troubleshoot faulty equipment; recommend corrective actions or vendor involvement.Coordinate scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.Develop SOPs and training plans for machining and fabrication equipment.Train and mentor operators on best practices and safe use of equipment.Collaboration & Process Improvement
Work closely with Engineering, Quality Control, Fabrication, and Assembly teams to meet specifications.Recommend process, tooling, or workflow improvements to increase efficiency.Support special projects and assist other team members as required.Education and Experience Required :
High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's / bachelor’s in manufacturing or mechanical engineering preferred)3-5 years of machining and CNC programming experienceProficient in SolidWorks and CAD / CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)
Skilled in operating CNC and fabrication equipment (waterjet, plasma, brake press, lathe, robotic welder)Familiar with job tracking and BOM systems (Jobscope experience preferred)Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and computer literacyExcellent communication and mentoring skillsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely with industrial equipmentAbility to work in a non-temperature controlled, loud manufacturing environmentTravel up to 10% of the timeDisclaimer Statement : This job description is not intended, nor should it be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, skills, or working conditions associated with a particular job.
