A day in the life of this role involves reporting to the Nurse Manager, where the Medical Assistant assists providers by performing a variety of patient flow, supply and environmental duties to support the health care team in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Summary of duties includes :

• Reviewing electronic medical record (EMR) prior to patient's scheduled appointment
• Ensuring all lab results, consult reports, and hospital discharge records are available to the provider
• Properly identifying patients and escorting them to the exam room
• Providing patients with forms to be completed prior to provider / nurse visit
• Accurately performing and recording patient's vital signs
• Assisting in preparing patients for examination
• Delivering patient care in a manner that is appropriate to the patient's age, physical ability and intellectual development
• Conducting hearing, vision, breathing and EKG testing
• Recognizing and reporting to provider / nurse abnormal vital signs
• Notifying provider of patient's arrival and readiness for examination
• Assisting providers and nurses with patient visits, including diagnostic studies and treatments
• Operating and monitoring the functioning of equipment
• Labeling, collecting and preparing lab specimens
• Delivering all lab specimens to lab
• Assisting providers with patient examinations and procedures
• Performing CLIA waived point of care testing
• Participating in quality assurance activities and training seminars
• Cleaning, wrapping and sterilizing instruments
• Assisting Charge Nurse with inventory and ordering medical supplies
• Keeping exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly
• Maintaining patient confidentiality
• Maintaining a pleasant, respectful and courteous demeanor
• Exercising care in the operation and use of equipment
• Maintaining work area in a clean, safe and organized manner
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Able to lift small loads and assist with patient mobility
• Ability to travel between OCHS sites
• Other related duties and projects as assigned

In accordance with Massachusetts law, we are committed to wage transparency. The salary range for this position is $20.00 / hourly to $29.00 / hourly. This range is provided to promote equity and transparency in our hiring process. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
