Summary

This role functions as an expert emergency medical professional providing immediate medical care to individuals affected by accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses such as cardiac arrests and strokes. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support from the initial contact until the patient is transferred to the appropriate medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public functions and provide stand-by services for public events as necessary.
• Document patient assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Provide medical, traumatic, and therapeutic interventions for patients in crisis situations.
• Work effectively as part of a two-member ambulance crew to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate medical equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support applications.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to establish and prioritize medical procedures for effective patient care.
• Respond to dispatcher instructions and operate specially equipped emergency vehicles safely.
• Administer medications via injection, intravenous procedures, or oral administration under physician guidance.
• Communicate with medical personnel at emergency facilities to obtain treatment instructions.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance after treating or transporting patients with infectious diseases and report relevant cases to authorities.

Physical Demands

Required to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry up to 80 lbs short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead are essential parts of this role.
