Job descriptionSupervise daily laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with protocols. Maintain inventory and ensure timely ordering of supplies and reagents by submitting to the Practice Manager. Schedule and coordinate maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. Monitor laboratory cleanliness and ensure adherence to safety standards. Enforce adherence to laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA). Oversee quality control and assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. Maintain documentation and logs for audits, inspections, and quality reviews. Provide guidance and technical support to lab staff on procedures, troubleshooting, and instrumentation. Assist in validating and implementing new tests or equipment. Review test results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and escalate issues as needed. Oversee technical training for laboratory staff on new equipment, safety practices, and updated procedures. Evaluate and verify staff competency on laboratory processes and equipment. Act as the liaison between the laboratory and other departments or vendors regarding workflow, test availability, and technical inquiries. Attend and contribute to operational and departmental meetings. Maintain clear and timely communication with clinicians and other staff regarding lab operations. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required records, logs, and reports. Assist in the preparation of operational reports for management as requested.
