Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a ME or compact RN license and strong neuro and trauma skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
  • 26-bed ICU including some negative pressure rooms
  • Caring for medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional patients
  • Conditions include ICP monitoring, EVD, spinal precautions, DKA, multi-system trauma, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, and stroke
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with a possible third patient during discharge or transfer
  • Night shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, with every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating may be required to Cardiac Care Unit, Cardiac or Medical Stepdown, or to PICU if pediatric experience is present
  • Uses Cerner for charting; experience preferred
  • Utilizes Alaris and Pyxis equipment
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurse, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma surgery team
  • General hospital orientation followed by one shift of unit orientation provided
  • Flu vaccination required for assignment; only medical exemptions will be considered
  • Holiday coverage varies and requires manager approval for requests
  • Professional solid color scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Active ME RN license or compact RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Strong neuro and trauma experience including EVD and ICP monitoring required
  • Experience with ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke, hemodynamic lines (A-lines / CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and strong assessment skills required
  • Cerner experience preferred
  • PALS certification preferred if candidate has PICU experience and may float to the unit
  • Applicants must not have worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacity
  • Permanent address must be 100+ miles South / Southwest of the facility
