Intern : Information Security – JR | Summer 2026 Start Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Information Security Intern to be based in our Mt. Laurel, NJ or Arlington, VA offices. This Security intern will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the Navy’s toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space. Overview : Information Security Interns work alongside our Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) and Security System Admin teams to assist in protecting our systems and data from cyber attacks. IDT’s Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn from experts and perform meaningful work in a professional work environment. All applicants must be able to obtain / maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include :
Experience with any of the following : Windows Operating systems (server and workstation level), Linux Operating System (including CentOS) VMWare or virtualization technologiesFundamental skills in programming or scriptingSecure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) familiarityParticipate in the assessment and authorization of software for use in the Department of DefenseMonitor and analyze security events to identify potential threats and ensure compliance with DoD RMF requirementsCollaborate with team members to develop and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans, Plan of Action and Milestones, and Risk AssessmentsCurrent college juniors / rising seniors preferredMinimum Required Qualifications :
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Science, or related fieldKnowledge of Cyber Security principles and best practicesRequired skills :
Up to date on relevant technologies (operating systems)Preferred skills :
Experience in Cyber Security or Information SecurityPrevious work supporting a helpdeskCompetencies :
