Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 17 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg unit caring for neurological and post-op patients, requiring a Michigan RN license and night shift availability. Responsibilities Position is in a 40-bed medical surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders and post-op care Patient population includes stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, other neuro-inflammatory conditions, and large spinal surgery cases Unit includes six step-down / telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients age 5 and up Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30) Every other weekend required May float to other Med / Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms Uses Epic for EMR and Pyxis medication system Role involves caring for a varied population of neuro, post-op, bariatric, and seizure-monitoring patients Travelers are first to float if needed No holiday time-off requests accepted; holiday RTO may be discussed with manager for unit needs All lab work must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing contract Online modules to be completed during orientation and annually Past staff may return after 6 months Locals within 50 miles accepted at a rate differential Requirements Active Michigan RN license required BLS certification (AHA) required NIHSS certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start Minimum of 1 year Med / Surg nursing experience required; 1-2 years preferred References required for consideration Proof of flu vaccination or exemption required upon signing contract Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625544.
