Job description

The Full-Time RN (Nurse) - Emergency Care Center provides tailored, goal-oriented nursing care in line with hospital guidelines and nursing best practices. The role involves assessing both the physical and psychological states of patients, accurately documenting findings, and serving as a clinical resource and role model. The focus is on patient-centered care, teamwork, professional growth, and strict adherence to hospital protocols, especially within a geriatric psychiatric environment.\n\nOverview\n\nAt Yale New Haven Health, every employee is expected to embody our vision, support our mission, and uphold our values of integrity, patient-centeredness, respect, accountability, and compassion on a daily basis.\n\nUnder the guidance of the nurse manager, the RN will oversee personalized, goal-directed nursing care, utilizing the nursing process and primary Nursing principles, in accordance with departmental protocols and hospital policies.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n

  • Patient Assessment : Continuously evaluate and document the physical and psychological condition of patients throughout their care journey, sharing critical information with relevant disciplines.\n
  • Policy Adherence : Ensure compliance with The Westerly Hospital policies and procedures.\n
  • Clinical Leadership : Serve as a clinical reference and role model for peers.\n
  • Staff Development : Engage in training and educational sessions for fellow staff members.\n
  • Customer Service Excellence : Uphold the highest standards of respect, dignity, compassion, and professionalism for all customers by embodying the principles of Patient Family and Centered Partnership.\n
  • Team Collaboration : Recognize, appreciate, and support the contributions of colleagues, fostering a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.\n
  • Resource Management : Arrive on time, well-prepared to work, and adhere to hospital policies regarding punctuality and time-off requests.\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation : Graduate of an accredited nursing school required.\n\nExperience : Preference for candidates with prior experience in geriatric psychiatry and hospital settings.\n\nLicensure : Current Rhode Island Nursing License and Basic Life Support certification required. CPI training to be completed within the first year of employment.\n\nSpecial Skills : Previous geriatric psychiatric experience is preferred.\n\nLocation : The position is based at The Westerly Hospital.
