JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team! In this role, the Direct Support Professional is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall care of individuals within foster care and who may have developmental disabilities who reside in New Direction for Youth. This includes direct care of program individuals and implementation of A New Directions Programming located in Brooklyn Park and South Minneapolis . Direct Care Specialists are required to perform all duties in accordance with the State of Minnesota regulations and A New Directions policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to work on holidays and during inclement weather.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Training

Complete and maintain all required State mandated 245D trainings; and

Daily Programing

Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences and individual plans; and

Activities of Daily Living

Teach individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes, as appropriate according to their individual plan; and

Cleaning task as assigned and / or associated with client specific activities. (i.e., restrooms, dishes, common areas, and bedrooms).

Communication

Maintain resident confidentiality; and

Communicate with direct manager when items related to individual personal needs and personal space needs to be purchased.

Documentation

Ensure Medication Administration Record (MAR) entries are completed daily; and

Safety

Follow safety protocols to foster a safe working environment; and

All other duties as assigned.
