Associate Engineer, Test Engineering – Allison Transmission
Overview
Join the team that powers progress at Allison Transmission. We are seeking an Associate Engineer, Test Engineering to plan, manage, develop, and oversee the execution of test procedures, data collection, and analysis. This role involves testing and analyzing powertrain systems and subsystems in test cell and vehicle environments, standardizing procedures, configuring test systems, and delivering test reports. The role provides hands-on involvement with Allison products, industrial test equipment, and powertrain systems, including high horsepower engines, dynamometers, propulsion systems, drivelines, heat exchangers, and cooling systems. The successful candidate will share knowledge and train other engineers as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Utilize systems engineering approaches to design, develop, implement, and execute reliable, repeatable testing to support business needs and timing.
- Join and contribute as a member of the assigned product development team; participate in planning and status meetings.
- Promote teamwork and share professional knowledge with teammates.
- Plan, manage, and oversee the execution of product tests internal or external to Engineering Operations.
- Create, manage, and deliver multiple projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure facilities and support areas are informed, equipped, and prepared to meet test needs.
- Issue appropriate instructional documents (work requests) to initiate and support test flow.
- Gather and analyze test data to ensure validity; communicate technical data to internal and external engineering organizations / agencies.
- Have a basic understanding of computer programming to modify durability test cycles and post-processing applications.
- Document test events / results through test reports, log entries, and database entries as appropriate.
- Adhere to procedures and practices as delineated in the Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures, and Standard Procedures.
- Assist in the assembly and disposition of test units and parts; monitor and manage related processes.
- Support and contribute to the engineering development process; perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Proficient in oral and written business communication.High level of interpersonal skills.Ability to set and meet goals for all deliverables.Basic mechanical aptitude.Proficiency with computer operations, including Microsoft Office tools.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Experience in a laboratory test environment.Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, gears, electric machines, and hybrid / electrified propulsion systems.Basic programming understanding to write / modify test cycles and support data analysis.Troubleshooting experience in electronic controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.Location and Compensation

Salary range : $35.00-$37.00 per hour (as listed).
