The Jobsite Material Handler is responsible for supporting field and warehouse operations through efficient movement, organization, and tracking of materials, tools, and equipment. This role ensures that crews have the correct materials delivered to work areas on time and maintains safe, clean, and orderly storage locations. This is a physically demanding position operating in fast-paced, loud jobsite or warehouse environments, including outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Logistics & Material Handling
- Move, sort, stage, and stack raw materials, tools, and equipment to and from storage areas, production areas, and delivery vehicles.
- Pull orders from inventory and deliver materials to work centers or jobsite locations as required.
- Maintain in-process inventory by delivering and opening materials and supplies for crews.
- Locate materials listed on production orders and verify quantities and accuracy.
2. Receiving & Shipping
Inspect and document incoming shipments for damage, shortages, or quality concerns.Prepare outgoing materials for transport by securing, padding, crating, or packaging items appropriately.Locate, stage, and pack materials for shipping to internal or external destinations.Receive credit-return materials and verify returned quantities and items against production documentation.3. Inventory Control
Maintain inventory accuracy by identifying, labeling, and tracking materials and supplies.Record inventory locations, movements, and quantities using data entry tools or inventory management systems.Report inventory shortages or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.Open containers, sort, and catalog materials for storage or production use.4. Site Maintenance
Keep storage yards, warehouses, and equipment areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.Assist in maintaining equipment used for material movement (carts, lifts, pallet jacks, etc.).5. Compliance & Safety
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.Wear appropriate PPE at all times on the jobsite or in the warehouse.Prevent unsafe conditions by promptly reporting hazards, equipment issues, or unsafe practices.Required Skills & Abilities
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy materials consistently throughout the shift.Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure accurately.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to read, interpret, and analyze inventory information and production orders.Basic data entry skills for logging inventory and material movement.Ability to work in fast-paced environments, including construction sites and warehouses.Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in construction, warehouse operations, or material handling.Forklift or equipment operation experience (certification a plus but not required for entry-level candidates).Clean Driving RecordExperience with inventory tracking systems or ERP software (preferred but not required).Working Conditions
Exposure to loud environments, heavy machinery, outdoor weather, and active construction operations.Open to working shift work (afternoon / overnight, etc)Frequent bending, lifting, climbing, and standing for long periods.Occasionally requires overtime depending on project needs or delivery schedules.Why This Role Matters
