We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to join our team in Hawaii. This Contract-to-permanent position requires a strong background in managing financial operations, including general ledger activities, fixed asset accounting, and lease management. Responsibilities :
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including tracking construction in progress, capitalizing assets, booking depreciation, and leading bi-annual fixed asset audits.
- Manage lease accounting activities, such as lease capitalization under compliance standards, monthly amortization, and maintaining accurate subledger records.
- Perform account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, and resolve discrepancies in the general ledger.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals.
- Assist with financial reporting by preparing schedules and providing variance analyses to operational management.
- Facilitate the preparation of Hawaii tax returns and respond to information requests from tax authorities.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Participate in special projects and other assigned tasks to support the accounting department's goals.
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related business field is preferred
- Minimum 4+ years accounting experience
- Proven experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entries.
- Expertise in fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization and depreciation tracking.
- Solid understanding of lease accounting standards and processes.
- Strong proficiency in account and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Oracle NetSuite technologies.
- Knowledge of excise tax preparation and compliance.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
