Unit capacity involves caring for post-surgical patients specializing in orthopedic, oncology, and neurology. The patient population serves young adults through late adults. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 6. Staffing plan is variable and includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, and nurse interns. An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team. Travelers may be asked to float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius. Floating will depend on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Travelers will be notified before their scheduled shift if a float assignment is required.
