Job Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is looking for a Propulsion / Ordnance / Controls Engineer to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program. The role focuses on the design, development, integration, and testing of hardware systems that enable strategic deterrence. The engineer will lead teams, manage design processes, and mentor technical staff to deliver error-free solutions that meet program requirements.
Responsibilities
- Define, interpret, and implement design requirements and coordinate hardware design activities.
- Delegate tasks and manage staffing assignments to sustain engineering capabilities.
- Develop and integrate custom and procured hardware and systems in accordance with engineering process specifications.
- Ensure designs adhere to Common Integrated Processes and drive process improvement into the design culture.
- Provide solution-based technical mentoring to improve program performance and drive error-free design using proven tools, processes, and predictive measures.
- Collaborate with program and functional senior leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments and rotations.
- Develop layouts using advanced composites and aerospace metallic materials for flight structures and weldments, including metal machining, welding, and composites.
- Travel may be required.
Qualifications
Fundamental understanding of propulsion aerospace hardware systems and processes.Experience with aerospace flight hardware design, analysis, manufacture, or test and integration.Experience with requirement development and management.Previous experience leading a team.Schedule / planning experience.Ability to work functional duties with limited budget.Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution.Ability to manage multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and independently.US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.Desired Skills
Experience guiding the successful completion of major programs and functioning in a project leadership role.Full Spectrum Leadership experience and training.Cost account management (CAM) experience.Knowledge of Lockheed Martin Command Media related to system design and analyses.Hardware experience, including design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test; experience using EPDM Windchill, SAP, and design tools.Knowledgeable at a systems level in stress, propulsion, harness routing, strength of materials, subcontracts, electrical design / analysis, software, transportation, and launch operations.Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers.Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE's).Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields such as systems engineering, electronics, stress / thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality, and more.Excellent verbal / written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.Security Clearance
This position requires a government security clearance. The candidate must be a US citizen and eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
