Job Description
You will be an owner of the EDI platform, responsible for improving system reliability, creating redundancy, and modernizing EDI processes that have remained unchanged for decades. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders, external trading partners, and IT leadership to ensure our EDI environment scales with the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Strategy
- Design and implement the future-state EDI architecture.
- Build redundancy, monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure high availability and business continuity.
- Assess current processes and recommend modernization opportunities aligned with business growth.
- Create playbook and documentation for key EDI processes.
- Hands-On Analysis & Development
- Configure and maintain EDI maps, workflows, and communication protocols.
- Troubleshoot EDI transaction failures and work directly with trading partners to resolve issues.
- Develop and implement integrations between EDI, ERP, and other enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with analytics team to integrate EDI transactions into Data Warehouse.
- Operational Support
- Serve as the subject matter expert for all EDI-related issues.
- Monitor daily EDI traffic and ensure SLAs with trading partners are met.
- Provide documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to IT team members to build internal redundancy.
- Collaboration
- Partner with the CIO and IT leadership to define the EDI roadmap.
- Work closely with supply chain, distribution, and customer service teams to support operational excellence.
- Manage vendor relationships with IBM Sterling and other third-party partners.
Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Sterling Integrator (or similar EDI platforms).Proven experience in designing and architecting EDI environments, including redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery.Strong expertise in EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, VAN).Experience integrating EDI with ERP systems (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar).Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex EDI mapping and transaction issues.Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.Excellent communication skills to work with business and technical stakeholders.Preferred Skills
Manufacturing and distribution industry experience.Familiarity with modern integration approaches (APIs, middleware, cloud-based EDI solutions).Experience leading or mentoring other EDI / IT professionals.Why?
