Job description

Senior Consultant

BerryDunn is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Medicaid consulting team. As part of our consulting team focused on supporting state Medicaid agencies, you will work within Medicaid policy to help agencies implement new programs and administer their current program. You'll be the success partner for Medicaid agencies in building healthier communities and stronger futures.

You will work remotely, hybrid, or in one of our offices, helping clients nationally. You will report to and partner with management team members and our Medicaid subject matter experts for both client work and career development. With a growth mindset, you will drive your own development and partner with staff to support their development. Your initial work will be in support of our client in West Virginia, helping to develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Management Plan (QMP) and advise on HCBS quality measure technical specifications and value sets. This work will be in support of a home and community-based services (HCBS) quality measures reporting initiative that aligns with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) HCBS Quality Measure Set.

Travel Expectations : Travel to client sites can range up to 50%

You Will

  • Lead one or more client policy initiative(s) with a team that will engage in activities such as developing data-driven strategies for quality measures, policy analysis and recommendations, client communications, facilitating client meetings, action item and decision management, deliverable development, and project progress tracking and reporting (client work)
  • Drive your development through an annual process that supports your growth goal in partnership with your supervisor and BerryDunn's learning and development team, including staying up to date on topics such as the CMS HCBS Quality Measure Set (staff development)
  • Participate in new business development through activities such as research, supporting proposal content, or developing marketing materials (business development)

You Have

  • Drive and initiative
  • Seven or more years working for a state Medicaid agency, or consulting with state Medicaid agencies, supporting waiver reporting, compliance, and policy initiatives.
  • Direct experience analyzing regulations and sub-regulatory guidance as well as working with most Medicaid authorities such as waivers and the state plan, 1915c waivers, and / or 1115 waivers.
  • Experience supporting data-driven strategies for quality and related tools along with the implementation of HCBS experience of care surveys and waiver quality improvement systems
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Public Policy, Health Management, or Public Health, or a similar field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and teamwork; experience working across / facilitating conversations across multiple state agencies / external partners to Medicaid.
  • Excellent writing, communication and computer skills
  • Preferred : Familiarity with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and utilization data.
  • Preferred : Experience with value sets, and / or Medicaid claim processes
  • Preferred : CAHPS survey experience
  • Preferred : Certified Healthcare Quality Professional (CPHQ)
  • Compensation Details

    The base salary range targeted for this role is $100,000 - $125,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
