Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Principal Psychiatrist to provide high‑quality psychiatric care throughout the State of Connecticut. Positions are available full‑time or part‑time, with flexible scheduling to support work‑life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24‑hour supervision to specified patient groups and oversee facility coverage, including on‑call and weekend responsibilities.
- Make rounds, deliver direct care, and provide clinical oversight of multidisciplinary treatment teams.
- Coordinate medical staff with related programs and review treatment plans for compliance with Joint Commission and HCFA standards.
- Deliver education and training through grand rounds, case conferences, and staff supervision.
- Lead and evaluate staff and on‑site night duty physicians / psychiatrists, ensuring quality of care.
- Conduct assessments, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate medications and psychosocial interventions for psychiatric and substance‑abuse disorders.
- Perform advanced risk assessments, complex case consultations, and develop quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and review reports, medical records, and correspondence; perform utilization review and management functions.
- Attend court hearings as a state witness and perform related duties as required.

Board‑certified in adult or child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Connecticut (temporary license up to one year accepted).Eligibility to participate in federal health‑care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a‑7b(f).Preferred : Certification in geriatrics, ABI / TBI, forensic psychiatry, substance abuse, or related specialty; bilingual proficiency is a plus.Evidence of advanced clinical skill, risk assessment, and quality‑improvement initiative development.Benefits and Compensation
