Job description

Organization Overview :

Spill The Tea Café (STTC) is Hawai‘i’s first inclusive, youth-driven mental-health clinic built around one purpose : to redefine what mental health looks like for this generation. Founded by Haylin Dennison, LCSW, STTC blends therapy, youth leadership, and community impact into one innovative model. We’re building a future where healing and empowerment happen side by side — through inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded care.

STTC has served over 700 youth statewide and developed Hawai‘i’s most innovative intern-to-leadership pipeline, mentoring graduate interns into confident, licensed clinicians. We partner with organizations such as Palama Settlement, Hawai‘i Department of Health, Lili‘uokalani Trust, and Kapiʻolani Adolescent Medicine, offering accessible, community-based care that changes lives.

Position Summary :

The Licensed Clinical Supervisor is the heartbeat of STTC’s clinical training ecosystem — a leader, mentor, and systems-builder dedicated to developing the next generation of clinicians. This role is ideal for a visionary LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC who wants to do things differently : someone who believes in creating better systems, building confident leaders, and shaping a culture of inclusive excellence in youth mental health.

While this role focuses primarily on supervision, it also requires the flexibility and readiness to step into clinical situations when needed. You will provide high-level guidance and oversight to pre-licensed therapists and interns, but also be prepared to assume temporary caseloads or direct crisis intervention when youth require stabilization or when trainees need clinical modeling or support.

This position requires both visionary leadership and hands-on readiness — a balance of strategic mentorship and real-world clinical grounding.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide weekly individual and group supervision to pre-licensed clinicians and MSW interns in accordance with Hawai‘i licensing standards.
  • Review, approve, and sign clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans, ensuring quality, compliance, and clinical integrity.
  • Offer direct clinical support in high-acuity or crisis cases when pre-licensed staff require backup or coverage.
  • Model engagement-focused, trauma-informed, and inclusive care practices that reflect STTC’s core values.
  • Facilitate clinical case reviews, reflective practice sessions, and training intensives that promote growth, confidence, and ethical judgment.
  • Partner with the Clinical Lead and Program Manager to coordinate supervision schedules, QA processes, and staff development goals.
  • Develop and refine training modules for new clinicians, including documentation, risk assessment, crisis management, and culturally responsive care.
  • Participate in organizational leadership meetings to strengthen clinical alignment, staff wellness, and program innovation.
  • Foster a supportive, forward-thinking learning environment that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and bold ideas.

Required Qualifications :

  • LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or equivalent Hawai‘i licensure, with full eligibility to provide clinical supervision under state law.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-licensure experience, preferably in youth or community mental-health settings.
  • Demonstrated success in clinical supervision, workforce development, or program leadership.
  • Proficiency in trauma-informed, inclusive, and strengths-based treatment models.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relational leadership skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and decisively in crisis or high-intensity clinical situations.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience training or supervising clinicians within nonprofit or community-based organizations.
  • Background in leadership coaching, program innovation, or workforce pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with Hawai‘i’s cultural landscape, mental-health systems, and youth-serving networks.
  • Interest in contributing to organizational growth, system redesign, and model replication statewide.
  • Compensation & Culture :

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. STTC offers flexible scheduling, a supportive team culture, and opportunities to co-create Hawai‘i’s next generation of clinicians. Supervisors receive ongoing leadership development and are encouraged to design new supervision models, training intensives, or curricula that move the field forward.

    Ideal Candidate Profile :

You’re not just supervising — you’re building legacies. You believe that supervision is where confidence, ethics, and innovation are born. You’re ambitious, courageous, and ready to help shape the next generation of mental-health professionals. You thrive at the intersection of structure and creativity, and you see leadership not as hierarchy but as empowerment.

At STTC, we’re not just doing therapy — we’re rewriting the playbook for what’s possible in youth mental health. If you’re ready to lead that revolution, this is your place.
