Responsibilities Work in a 33-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital Average daily census is 16 patients Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2-3 for adults Care for adult patients with trauma, cardiac, substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemakers, stroke, vascular, renal, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases RNs are required to titrate drips such as cardiac, insulin, and sedation Use and manage respiratory equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow devices, and nasal cannulas GE monitoring equipment used; RNs must read, interpret, and document monitor strips Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is Epic—experience preferred Night shifts of 12 hours (1830–0630) Every other weekend required Float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg with ratios of 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 Must work at least 2 holidays within contract timeframe No guaranteed block scheduling; travelers are added to self-scheduling Daily responsibilities include titrating complex drips, interpreting monitor strips, and managing advanced respiratory support equipment Support staff includes nurse aides and healthcare techs as available based on census One shift of unit-specific orientation provided Pass / fail open book skills exam required during orientation with a minimum score of 90% Strict no artificial nails policy in all patient care departments Initial RTO up to 7 days per 13 weeks must be requested up front; additional RTO not approved Unit does not accommodate requests for blocked scheduling except possibly for weekends Travelers may not be submitted as duos or share a car for scheduling Requirements Active NE or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience Experience with titratable cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips required Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license to confirm address 50 miles from facility RNs may not be currently or recently employed (within past year) full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility Two professional references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627290.
