What You'll Do
Role snapshot : In-office Network Technician / Engineer (not remote) who's hungry to learn. Mix of day-to-day ops, small projects, and remote-hands field work. Some travel required.
As a key member of our Engineering & Operations team, you will :
- Support day-to-day operations of Quintillion's telecom network, including fiber, DWDM transport, Ethernet, IP / MPLS, and OSS / VM systems.
- Perform system administration tasks for network management and OSS environments.
- Conduct field service work, including troubleshooting and maintenance of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) infrastructure.
- Travel to remote sites across Alaska to provide on-site support and resolve technical issues.
- Assist with provisioning standards, system upgrades, and network performance improvements.
- Monitor system and network security, including patching, vulnerability detection, and access controls.
- Collaborate with managed service providers and internal teams to deliver reliable connectivity solutions.
What We're Looking For
Mindset : Proactive "get-it-done" attitude, coachable, comfortable switching between desk work and field work.Networking basics : VLANs / LACP, IPv4 subnetting, routing fundamentals (OSPF / BGP concepts), VPNs, firewall / NAT basics; can read CLI and follow playbooks.Fiber / physical skills : Familiar with SFPs / optics, patching / cleaning, light power / OTDR readings, basic troubleshooting; bonus for fusion splice or test-set experience.Systems exposure : Comfortable with Linux / Windows basics, SSH / RDP, scripting fundamentals (bash / Python) a plus.Ops & field work : Ticketing / documentation, inventory / RMA, site turn-ups, rack / stack, cabling, labeling; willing to travel and do hands-on remote-hands tasks.Communication : Clear written updates, follows change control, works well with vendors and teammates.Minimums / plus-ups : 3-5 years relevant experience or strong labs / home-lab; valid driver's license; CompTIA Net+ / Fiber, CCNA / JNCIA a plus.What We Offer
