Overview
Waukesha County's Medical Examiner's Office is seeking a Deputy Medical Examiner-Death Investigator to join its Team. This role involves exposure to death on a daily basis and interaction with grieving individuals. Responsibilities include determining jurisdiction of a case, investigating and reporting on the cause and manner of death, and occasionally assisting with autopsies, under the direction of the Deputy Medical Examiner Supervisor and Forensic Pathologists.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability in a fluid environment where pace and caseload can vary. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. The ability to collaborate with peers to accomplish daily tasks and maintain a professional demeanor when working with outside agencies (e.g., law enforcement, funeral directors) is required.
Work Schedule
The daily work schedule is Third Shift (11 pm to 7 am), five 8-hour shifts per week, with rotating on-call shifts on weekends and holidays. Schedule adjustments and overtime may be required to provide coverage during scheduled or unplanned absences.
Pre-employment and Testing
Prior to hiring, candidates must pass a diver's license and criminal background check. Post-offer testing requirements include : Audio, Hepatitis B Titer, QuantiFERON (TB test), Musculoskeletal Evaluation, Physical, Rapid Drug Test, and Respirator Clearance Questionnaire.
