An Advanced Practice Provider IV (APP IV) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and / or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida / Georgia. Clinical Area : Provides care primarily in the inpatient and / or critical care, Labor & Delivery and / or emergency department settings; >
50% inpatient hospital-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency department. May perform first assist functions in the operating room setting. Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
- Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary health care providers.
- Directly cares for patients with neuroendovascular pathology including acute strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), in both critical care and outpatient settings.
- Opportunity to scrub in / first assist in Neuroendovascular procedures.
- Monitors or manages medical / invasive devices and placement of devices within scope of practice. Manages care of pre- / post-operative and pre- / post-procedure patients.
- Conducts high-level evaluation and triage, including patient histories, physical examinations and / or diagnostic / therapeutic procedures, differential diagnoses, ordering of ancillary studies, medical decision making, treatment and stabilization.
- Formulates comprehensive health management plans in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals; includes progress notes, discharge summaries, consults, etc. Facilitates patient participation in healthcare decisions.
- Contributes to program development, implementation, and expansion, including research, quality improvement projects, and professional development opportunities.
- Documents clinical information in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with billing guidelines; closes open encounters and EMR communications as required.
- Educates and counsels patients / families regarding health care and routine health maintenance.
- Responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and schedules procedures routinely.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements : 2 years Critical Care, Labor & Delivery / ED / OR care settings preferred.Education Requirements : High School Diploma or GED required; Masters Nursing Practitioner or Masters Physician Assistant program required.Certification / Licensure : APRN Licensure required at time of hire or PA Licensure in Florida / Georgia required at time of hire; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred; New grads in Orthopedics must acquire DEA within 90 days of hire; May be required to take call coverage; Travel up to 25%.UFJPI is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free Workplace.J-18808-Ljbffr
