American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Intermediate Care (IMC) position requiring DC licensure and prior travel experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Neuro IMC unit within a short-term acute care, teaching hospital settingUnit patient ratio is 1 : 4Care for neurological patients with intermediate acuityDay and night shifts are available, with typical shifts of 3x12 hours per weekEvery other weekend work requiredFloating to units of equivalent or lower level of acuity is expectedCerner is the charting system usedResponsibilities include management of intermediate acuity neuro patients and specialized procedures related to critical careMust be willing to accept assignments that include patients with COVID-19Orientation includes a 4-hour class, 8-hour modules, and two 12-hour clinical shifts before independent practiceScrubs are not provided; wear any color without other hospital logosLocal candidates within 60 miles are accepted but may be paid a lower rateReturn staff must have a one-year gap from prior MedStar employment to be eligibleNo more than 8 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during contract, and must still meet full weekly hoursThree or more absences in a 13-week contract may lead to contract terminationParking is available but at a cost\n \n Requirements\n
Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted with proof, but must be in hand before start dateCurrent BLS required; ACLS, NIHSS, and BSN preferredMinimum two years of experience requiredOne prior travel assignment requiredExperience with telemetry, cardiac telemetry, IMC / Stepdown, and dysrhythmia interpretation and managementSkills required include phlebotomy, feeding tube care, peripheral and PICC line management, starting IVs, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care / wound vacExperience with Cerner EMR preferredTwo supervisor references required, with recent experience\n Benefits\n
