Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Intermediate Care (IMC) position requiring DC licensure and prior travel experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Neuro IMC unit within a short-term acute care, teaching hospital setting
  • Unit patient ratio is 1 : 4
  • Care for neurological patients with intermediate acuity
  • Day and night shifts are available, with typical shifts of 3x12 hours per week
  • Every other weekend work required
  • Floating to units of equivalent or lower level of acuity is expected
  • Cerner is the charting system used
  • Responsibilities include management of intermediate acuity neuro patients and specialized procedures related to critical care
  • Must be willing to accept assignments that include patients with COVID-19
  • Orientation includes a 4-hour class, 8-hour modules, and two 12-hour clinical shifts before independent practice
  • Scrubs are not provided; wear any color without other hospital logos
  • Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted but may be paid a lower rate
  • Return staff must have a one-year gap from prior MedStar employment to be eligible
  • No more than 8 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during contract, and must still meet full weekly hours
  • Three or more absences in a 13-week contract may lead to contract termination
  • Parking is available but at a cost

  • Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted with proof, but must be in hand before start date
  • Current BLS required; ACLS, NIHSS, and BSN preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience required
  • One prior travel assignment required
  • Experience with telemetry, cardiac telemetry, IMC / Stepdown, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Skills required include phlebotomy, feeding tube care, peripheral and PICC line management, starting IVs, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care / wound vac
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Two supervisor references required, with recent experience
