As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and scaling a data platform that empowers teams with reliable, high-quality data. You will define the technical vision, drive architectural decisions, and guide squads in solving complex data challenges across distributed systems. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic influence — ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency across all data services. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, and business leaders while mentoring others to raise the bar in technical excellence.

Accountabilities :

  • Define and implement the data platform’s long-term technical roadmap to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Lead architectural decisions, advising on data storage formats, frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Drive cross-team initiatives to improve observability, schema consistency, and platform automation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver self-service data tooling that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Continuously improve system maintainability, reliability, and cost efficiency through automation and modern engineering practices.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to other engineers, fostering technical growth and high-quality development practices.
  • Evaluate new technologies to enhance platform performance, security, and developer experience.
  • Support incident management and participate in on-call rotations to maintain platform resilience.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on large-scale, cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise in distributed systems and tools such as AWS, EMR, Glue, Kafka, Iceberg, and dbt .
  • Strong understanding of data architecture patterns (e.g., medallion / lakehouse, schema evolution, streaming ingestion).
  • Proficiency in CI / CD, version control, observability, and incident management frameworks.
  • Experience developing engineering standards or frameworks used across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) is a plus.
  • Fully remote position, with up to 5% domestic travel.
