What You'll Do
Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific position assigned to, but they may include :
Gain solid exposure to an ERP system (SAP) and understand how it is used to record and report financial transactionsUnderstand and gain deep insight into the month-end financial close process and sub-processes that support the close.Gain insight into how actual results are reported against budget and forecastAnalyze accounting and financial dataIncrease your knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Business Intelligence / Analytical tools and how they are leveraged to increase the effectiveness of reportingPerform a variety of financial analyses to help business leaders in decision-makingProject Controls
Gain solid exposure to an ERP system (SAP) and understand how it is used to record and report financial transactionsDevelop analytical skills behind budget development, budget control, and monitoring of actualsAssist with monthly financial close activities, including preparation of accruals, variance analysis, and reconciliationsLearn how project forecasts are developed, updated and participate in refining forecast accuracySupport the review of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts, budgets, and refinery standardsGain exposure to turnaround, maintenance, expense organizations budget development, cost tracking, reporting, and performance metricsAssist in compiling management reports and dashboards for leadership reviewSupport development of key performance indicators (KPIs) for turnaround and maintenance cost efficiencyGain understanding of procurement processes and the role of project controls in managing commitments and obligationsDevelop working knowledge of timekeeping and labor cost allocations for refinery and contractor staffContribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline reporting or reduce manual processesWho You Are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications :
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).Available to begin work in either January 2026 or May 2026.Ability to work well in a team environment.Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel.Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills.We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
Education
Must be enrolled in a Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.Working Conditions
