Job description

Job Summary

This position is a key member of the production crew responsible for operating two production lines and supporting high-quality manufacturing processes in a fast-paced, continuous-operation environment. The Forklift Operator maintains raw material flow, coordinates with Shipping & Receiving, supports packaging equipment, and adheres to Client's strict safety and quality standards. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities including safety compliance, TPM participation, forklift operation, quality control, and cross-functional teamwork.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Plant and Environmental Safety

  • Live and enforce the Company Safety Standard : "Safer Together" . Safety is a condition of employment.
  • Take personal ownership of safety and hold team members to the same standard.
  • Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, or injuries regardless of severity.
  • Participate in safety programs including Safety Committee, Focused Improvement Events, training, and housekeeping efforts.
  • Comply with all plant safety and environmental regulations, including Lock-Out / Tag-Out and recycling procedures.
  • Maintain clean, safe workstations and ensure all equipment is clean and operational.
  • Perform safety inspections and complete vehicle checklists prior to operating PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicles).

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

  • Actively engage in TPM programs (Autonomous Maintenance, Clean-Inspect-Lubricate-Tighten (CILT), 5S, etc.).
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks during scheduled down days.
  • Utilize Focused Improvement tools to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Maintain TPM boards and document activity accurately.
  • Strive toward the goal of zero injuries, zero defects, and zero losses .
  • Quality Assurance

  • Perform and document quality checks on winder, EDL, conveyors, and finished goods at specified intervals.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Communicate quality issues with back-end and coater end operators.
  • Adjust control panels, timers, and machine speeds to ensure optimal product quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and escalate out-of-spec issues promptly.
  • Production and Operational Support

  • Operate forklifts and maintain flow of raw materials to winder and packaging equipment.
  • Support packaging operations : operate banding machines, label pallets, and manage rework.
  • Relieve crew members for breaks and cover outages (vacation, call-offs, etc.).
  • Manage scrap and waste documentation accurately.
  • Assist in threading, web breaks, and product changeovers.
  • Respond to alarms and perform appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform CILT and 5S tasks as required.
  • Other Duties

  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule and task assignments.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Follow all SOPs and operational protocols consistently.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in cross-training and identify development opportunities.
  • Attend and actively participate in shift meetings and DMS communications.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • High mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to multitask.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Computer and Software Competencies

  • Basic computer skills required for data entry and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, SAP, Ignition, and pallet labeling systems (MII / IVC).
  • Education and Experience

    Required :

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Certified Forklift Operator.
  • Preferred :

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • 2+ years of forklift experience.
  • Physical Requirements / Work Environment

    Must be able to :

  • Be at least 18 years old and remain drug-free.
  • Work rotating shifts and mandatory overtime (up to 12-hour shifts).
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Tolerate temperature extremes, loud noise, ink, dust, dirt, and fumes.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs regularly.
  • Frequently bend, squat, twist, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Operate equipment from heights or elevated platforms as required.
  • Distinguish color and shading variations.
