Property Management Intern

  • SUMMER 2026

Location : Greenville, SC

Summary

NHEs full-time property management summer intern program offers college students the opportunity to learn about property management and allows business, management, and marketing students apply their skills and gain valuable experience. The intern will work in multiple business units and interact with our Community Managers and other office staff across NHEs portfolio of Conventional and Affordable apartment communities.

  • 10-week internship, 30-40 hours for full-time summer program
  • Eligible participants must be currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Proficient in MS Office Programs (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • This position will report to Human Resources in the Corporate Office in Greenville, SC, but may take direction from the Regional Property Manager or on-site Community Manager during their time at NHE.
  • The selected candidate will have the potential for future internship and other full-time employment opportunities with NHE, Inc. once they have successfully completed their internship and education.
  • The internship may travel to multiple apartment communities in the upstate of SC.
  • The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, be reliable and self-motivated with good communication skills and attention to detail. Must have the ability to work with little direction maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Through the program, the intern will use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, and will be exposed to Yardi Voyager Property Management Software and other platforms.

    Internship Summer Project

    Interns may be assigned one or more projects to work on and complete throughout the summer. Interns may be required to prepare and present project work findings and / or recommendations, utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint and Office Suite, to senior management.

    I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with all applicable deposits, rents, other fees and ancillary revenues are collected and deposited.
  • Reviews Accounts Receivables reports weekly and sends late notices accordingly.
  • Inspects the community daily to determine the quality of the physical property to assess and identify needs.
  • Ensure maintenance of the property is being performed and documented.
  • Assisting with resident retention program, i.e., newsletter, resident referral program or social activities.
  • Assists Community Manager to ensure all on-site administrative functions.
  • Handle and resolve current / former resident situations through established company guidelines and practices on a timely basis.
  • Plans, executes, and attends social and other community events for residents.
  • Resolves resident concerns and matters at a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate strong sales skills to both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills to both internal and external customers.
  • Manage the sales process from start to finish to achieve sales goals.
  • Ensure that all sales leads via telephone, walk in traffic, internet leads, etc. are followed through until considered lost or "closed".
  • Find qualified leads through referrals, networking, company supported advertisement and outreach marketing efforts.
  • Answer questions and tour apartment homes to determine the needs of potential residents.
  • Participate in social media marketing to obtain traffic and assist with brand management.
  • Prepares and assists with all leasing paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct Outreach Marketing efforts.
  • Research site section opportunities for new affordable housing developments.
  • Assist with due diligence on potential development sites.
  • Provide support ensuring tax credit applications.
