Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry night shift assignment requiring significant recent experience and EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit providing acute care
  • Night shifts are required with a 12-hour schedule
  • Assignment length is 16 weeks
  • Care responsibilities include NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and bedside telemetry strip interpretation
  • Patients are med / surg level with telemetry monitoring
  • Travelers are required to work at least every other weekend and provide coverage for 2 out of 4 major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
  • Use EPIC EMR system
  • Must provide direct Med / Surg Telemetry nursing care, including specialized bedside procedures
  • No block scheduling is permitted
  • Bi-weekly orientations are available on Mondays
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
  • Complete work history, including bed count, EMR, and facility type, is required for consideration
  • Reliable personal or rental transportation is strongly recommended due to lack of public transit access
  • Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
  • Travelers must be willing to schedule flexibly to meet patient care needs

    • Requirements

  • Active VT or Compact RN license is required (application for licensure must be completed within 24 hours of commitment if not already held)
  • AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required, with NIHSS needed prior to starting
  • Telemetry certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years Med / Surg Tele or 3 years Tele experience required
  • Prior travel experience is required
  • Must have completed two travel assignments in facilities with 300+ beds or have previous experience at any UVMHN acute care facility
  • EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
