Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Regional Education Director and in line with the YMCA of Southeastern NC's mission and policies, the Afterschool Site Coordinator oversees the afterschool program at a partnering school. The coordinator acts as the primary face-to-face contact for school administration, faculty, parents, and guardians, helping to establish and maintain the program. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills, leadership, and competencies to effectively serve the community, providing direction for the program and classroom, implementing curriculum, and ensuring a quality experience for children and parents aligned with YMCA values : honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Position Details

Type : Seasonal, part-time, hourly position

Pay : $15.12 - $15.88 / hour based on experience

Essential Functions

• Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
• Design and execute daily lesson and activity plans.
• Supervise children, classroom activities, and site safety.
• Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of children.
• Communicate with parents about site activities and children's behavior; maintain positive relationships and involve parents as volunteers.
• Maintain program site and equipment.
• Keep accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, behavior reports, and CACFP documentation.
• Participate in family nights, staff meetings, and training sessions.
• Follow Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards.
• Train new staff on YMCA policies and procedures.
• Supervise afterschool counselors, adjusting schedules as needed to maintain appropriate staffing and budget compliance.
• Build relationships with school and community stakeholders to strengthen YMCA-school collaboration.
• Assist with additional duties such as lunch and playground monitoring for sites serving 60+ students.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Youth Services District Director.
