Salary : $40-$50 / hr

The Crane Operator is responsible for operating mobile cranes with telescoping and lattice booms to load, unload, move and position heavy material and equipment at various work sites and conditions.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Ability to operate, inspecting and maintaining cranes at boom lengths, angles and positions.
• Inspecting work site conditions prior to setting up the crane.
• Ability to simultaneously operate a cranes control, make difficult clearance judgements while watching the moving load and boom, and compensate for variations in the cranes lifting capacity during position changes.
• Ability to ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed, machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools, supplies and equipment are accounted for and properly secured at the close of each work day.
• Performing the lift safely based upon weather conditions and the capacity of the crane.
• Perform crane inspection reports including a visual inspection of the crane and report any unsafe condition to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
• Ensure all crane permits and certifications are current.
• Prior experience working around noise, dust, welding and exhaust fumes and all types of weather.
• Know and understand the standard hand signals for controlling crane operations.
• Perform daily maintenance and inspections per operators manual.
• Keep proper tools on hand for the crane(s).
• Operate crane safely in accordance with SAM procedures at all times.
• Complies with all SAM safety policies and wear proper safety equipment at all times.
• Communicate with co-workers and be aware of personnel or vehicles working in an unsafe manner under the working crane at all times.
• Inspect cables and hoist blocks for damage and report if needed.
• Work as part of a team to get the job done safely and in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot work related problems using experience, job knowledge, and by communicating with others to solve the problem.
• Attend and participate in meetings including safety when required or requested.
• Annual crane physical required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
