Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring flexibility with shift scheduling and strong mental health skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care emergency department setting
  • Trauma level 3 ER with a separate triage and dedicated psych hold rooms
  • Patient population includes cardiac, COPD, DKA, trauma, stroke, mental health, ETOH, and overdose cases
  • 12-hour shifts with rotation through days, mids, and nights as needed; schedule may change during contract
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend
  • Advanced monitoring with Spacelabs monitors and 24 / 7 monitor tech support
  • EMR is Epic; Pyxis medication system is also used
  • ER equipped with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow O2; RT handles ABGs and breathing treatments
  • In-house security and dedicated support staff provided
  • No call or floating required
  • Dedicated charge nurse, house supervisor, ED techs, and patient sitters available
  • At least 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided before starting rotations
  • ER has two psych hold rooms and an overflow psych area separate from the main department
  • Scrub color is flexible; any scrubs accepted
  • Holiday shifts required with at least one major holiday off during assignment
  • No new travelers; prior travel experience required
  • Housing in the area may be challenging, so plan accordingly
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active Oregon RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent emergency department RN experience required
  • Completion of at least one previous travel RN assignment required
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
  • Experience with mental health, ETOH, and overdose patients required
  • Must be able to read monitoring strips
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift during the contract
