Role Summary : The Manager Engineering Support role is responsible for executing on the strategy for Engineering Support which includes Trax system oversight at Horizon Air. As a people leader, the Manager, Engineering Support leads and establishes priorities for the team to manage Maintenance Programs, Reliability, and Technical Publications in support of the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program. Key Duties : Lead team and establish priorities of Engineering Support, including Maintenance Programs, Reliability, and Technical Publications, to ensure compliance with the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP). Execute on strategy for Engineering Support with a 6–12 month horizon, aligning team efforts with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Make decisions related to Engineering Support functions, including program development, reliability improvements, and technical documentation standards. Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, team growth, performance evaluation, and time management. Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors, promoting safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Contribute to the long-term strategy (12 month horizon) and planning for Engineering Support, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory standards and operational needs. Delegate and assign responsibilities for the maintenance and development of the E-Manual System and the M&E time control and tracking system (Trax), including system administration and implementation of changes. Influence across team and company by coordinating with Maintenance and Flight Operations to ensure consistency and accuracy across all company manuals and procedures. Provide input in the strategy for reliability improvements, including recommending preventative maintenance procedures and system enhancements to support safety and operational efficiency. Cultivate external relationships with vendors, FAA representatives, and industry working groups to exchange best practices and drive innovation in maintenance and engineering support. Maintain compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) policies and procedures, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and supporting the implementation of effective risk controls. Lead by example in SMS participation, including active involvement in the SRA task force and maintaining current knowledge of CFRs, company manuals, and industry developments. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills : Required 5 years of experience in aviation maintenance, engineering, technical publications, or reliability programs. 2 years of leadership experience. Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training / experience in lieu of this degree. Thorough working knowledge of aviation safety standards, safe operating practices, and applicable CFRs (Parts 1, 21, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, 119, and 121). Strong understanding of Operator General Procedures Manual systems and Operations Specifications. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance, and foster professional development. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate with regulatory authorities, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in compliance auditing, policy implementation, and safety regulation adherence. Strong analytical skills, including data mining, trend analysis, and report generation. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Master’s degree in aeronautical engineering or a related technical field. FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings. Experience with HTML / XML, style sheets, structured authoring, or content management systems. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Salary Range : $113,100 - $169,650 / year Salary Details : Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience / level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska / Hawaiian / Horizon employees.
