Job Summary :

The Surgical Counselor serves as a liaison for patients considering vision correction surgery. This role is centered on building trust, educating patients, and supporting them through every step of their vision correction journey. The Surgical Counselor presents surgical plans with clarity, sets expectations, discusses financial options, and ensures patients feel informed, confident, and cared for from the initial evaluation through post operative care.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Deliver exceptional patient care with professionalism, compassion, and strong communication skills.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons and the Executive Committee to ensure seamless and comprehensive patient care.
  • Present surgical treatment plans clearly and confidently, helping patients make informed decisions.
  • Facilitate meaningful conversations to understand patient goals and desired outcomes.
  • Review financial information, including payment and financing options, with transparency and sensitivity.
  • Apply consultative sales techniques to guide patients toward the best solutions for their needs.
  • Build lasting patient relationships through consistent follow-up and detailed documentation.
  • Provide thorough instruction on pre- and post-operative care, ensuring patient comfort and preparedness.
  • Manage surgical scheduling with attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external communications (within 24–48 hours depending on urgency).
  • Utilize office software and CRM systems for efficient and accurate operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Eligibility for employment in the United States.
  • Previous experience in patient counseling, surgical scheduling, or a sales-oriented role preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail and strong follow-through.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in office software and CRM systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
