Ordnance Supervisor Job

Responsibilities You will lead three or more employees in ordnance functions / operations, provide instructions received from supervisors, assign tasks to individual members of the crew, set the work pace and work side by side with the other workers. You will ensure materials, tools, drawings, blueprints, and other required directives are at the job site while performing proper and safe work methods possessing detailed knowledge of governing procedures and directives. You will lead, guide, answers questions of other workers, and obtain needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that may come up during the workday while keeping the workers informed. You will monitor work for compliance with security, safety and good housekeeping practices, governing directives, supervisors' instructions, and report the status and progress of work to management. You will recommend additional on-the-job training for individuals within the crew / ACT, as required, based on observations and working with the individual as the work leader. You will assure the quality, quantity, and safety of ordnance materials, and operations as related to the receipt, storage, segregation, issue, handling, renovation, preservation, packing, documentation, and shipping. You will perform receipt and issue inspection of ordnance items including receipt / issue quantities to documentation and certifies items as ready for issue (RFI). You will inspect and approve transportation conveyances suitable for loading, blocking and bracing of the conveyance and load. You will advise management on the safety of facilities, equipment, planned operations, inspection requirements, standard operating procedures (SOP's), and safety regulations. You will perform quality inspections and tests using gauges, torque wrenches, measuring devices, calipers and voltmeters. You will perform quality inspections related to ordnance reconfigurations, maintenance, renovations, encanning, decanning and pressure checks on missiles. You will operate motor vehicles, including truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers, having a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds and support movement of ordnance materials. You will successfully complete, obtain, and maintain quality inspection certification per Department of the Navy (DON) Ammunition Sentencing guidance providing assurance required in making quality decisions and recommendations.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The screen-out element for this position is : Ability to lead or supervise such as : Ability to perform quality inspections of ordnance materials and operations as related to the receipt, storage, segregation, issue, handling, preservation, packing, documentation, and shipping of those items. Ability to inspect transportation conveyances suitable for loading and blocking and bracing of the load. Receive and offload ordnance material from trucks, vessels, MILVAN's, and other conveyances. Proper document total number of pieces, weight, NEW, cube, and other pertinent information. On / offload material utilizing powered forklifts, pallet jacks, and side loaders. Ability to operate MHE inside warehouses, magazines, trucks, piers / wharves, ramps, and outside areas. Ability to perform scheduled / unscheduled material inventories of magazines.
