Full-time Paralegal (Workers Compensation)Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Paralegal specializing in Workers Compensation to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Workers Compensation, Personal Injury Law, and general paralegal duties. This role requires a professional with 5+ years of relevant work experience who can effectively manage complex cases, support attorneys, and provide exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management : Oversee and manage a high volume of workers compensation cases from inception to resolution. This includes organizing case files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Client Communication : Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on case status, explaining legal procedures, and addressing their concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Document Preparation : Draft and prepare various legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, medical summaries, and settlement agreements.
  • Investigation and Research : Conduct thorough investigations into workers compensation claims, including gathering and analyzing medical records, employment records, and other relevant documentation. Perform legal research to support case strategies.
  • Litigation Support : Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials. This may include organizing exhibits, preparing witness files, and creating trial notebooks.
  • Medical Record Management : Review and summarize medical records, identify key information relevant to cases, and maintain organized medical chronologies.
  • Insurance Liaison : Communicate effectively with insurance companies, claims adjusters, and other parties involved in workers compensation cases.
  • Scheduling and Calendar Management : Coordinate and schedule depositions, medical examinations, hearings, and other case-related appointments. Maintain attorney calendars and ensure all deadlines are tracked and met.
  • Settlement Negotiations : Assist in preparing settlement demands and participate in settlement negotiations under attorney supervision.
  • Compliance : Ensure all case activities comply with state and federal workers compensation laws, as well as firm policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Associates / Bachelor 's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong focus on workers compensation and personal injury law.
  • In-depth knowledge of workers compensation laws, procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to client confidentiality.
