Inova McLean Surgery Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician, PRN (10 or 12 hours shifts available) to be responsible for cleaning, assembling and sterilizing all equipment, supplies and / or instruments and helping to maintain the supplies inventory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleans and decontaminates patient use items by taking apart instruments, rinsing and soaking instruments and washing / sterilization equipment.
- Assembles packages and / or terminally sterilizes patient use items.
- Keeps required records such as biological testing records and unit checks for outdated packages.
- Performs required environmental and / or equipment maintenance procedures.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school or equivalent plus completion of sterile processing training programMust be able to work independently in all aspects of Sterile Processing. Instrument Washer, Sonic Washer, Autoclave knowledge and maintenance.Knowledge of all surgical instrumentation, Impeccable record keeping, Diagnostic and Biological monitoringMust be able to adapt to repetitive, short cycle operations.Must be able to organize and prioritize work.Must be able to work well with others.Demonstrates knowledge and support for the principles of good patient relations in their daily activities and contacts with others.WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to adapt to cool and noisy working conditions.In normal working day, an employee may stand 4 hours, walk 3 hours and sit 1 hour.Intermittent physical mobility / activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.Frequently able to lift / carry 25 pounds or more.The use of hands requires fine manipulation.Will work around contaminated supplies / instrumentation / equipment.Will have exposure to hazardous chemicals.BENEFITS INCLUDE :
