Construction Inspector

As a Construction Inspector, you'll have the chance to work on exciting small, mid, and large-scale water sector infrastructure projects. Working with other members of the team, you'll provide construction inspection services team. During your time with us, you will observe, inspect, and document various construction projects as an Owner's Representative, as well as ensure compliance with design plans, contract specifications, and permit requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Review approved shop drawings, construction plans, and specifications and inspect active work against the approved contract documents to verify compliance, or identify any deviation from approved plans, then elevate to the Resident Engineer and Owner.
- Prepare a daily field report documenting the status of the work, daily activities (including start and finish dates for CPM activities), manpower, equipment, and other observations.
- Maintain a continuous record of change orders and field changes on a set of contract documents.
- Maintain a continuous record of construction deficiencies and punch list items.
- Take photographs and videos of major construction activities. Prepare a database of the photographs with the date, subject matter, and photo number / file name.
- Verify quantities of work performed, materials used, and adequacy of the contractor's resources.
- Verify time and materials expense reports from the construction contractor.
- Notify Construction Project Manager and Resident Engineer of potential construction problems.
- Attend progress meetings.
- Verify that the contractor's as-built drawings are current.
- Assist in the review monthly contractor's progress payment requests.
- Coordinate material testing requirements with material testing firm and the contractor.
- Review all material test results.
- Monitor the status of erosion control devices on a weekly basis, and after every major rainfall event.
- Prepare a pre-construction and post-construction video of the project site
Here's what you'll need :
Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting civil infrastructure, structural and building projects. Prefer water / wastewater utility experience, but will consider those with experience from other sectors.Certifications through ICC, ACI, and AWS other Special Inspection areas.Experience working in / for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations on public right of way construction project sites.Experience installing or inspecting large diameter force main installations.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Collaborative, team oriented perspective.Attention to detail and disciplined time management skillsThis role will require extended periods of time spent in the field and the ability to commute daily to field site / office in Centreville, VA.The ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and to react to change in a fast-paced environment.Experience with industry document management software such as eBuilder, Procore, or similarValid driver's license in Commonwealth of VirginiaAbility to walk project site dailyOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. The base salary range for this position is $91,000.00 to $130,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
