Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Summary :

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automation and deployment pipelines, ensuring efficient, reliable, and secure software delivery across various environments. This role bridges development, testing, and operations, advocating for infrastructure as code, monitoring, and release management.

Location : Linthicum Heights, Maryland, United States

Responsibilities :

• Design, build, and maintain CI / CD pipelines (automated build, test, deployment).
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using IaC tools.
• Monitor, alert, and maintain system health, performance, and capacity.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem processes.
• Ensure system reliability, high availability, scalability, and security in deployed environments.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and DB teams to streamline deployment and release cycles.
• Optimize infrastructure cost and resource utilization.
• Mentor junior DevOps / operations engineers.
• Evaluate, recommend, and adopt new DevOps tools, practices, and automation.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and governance policies.
• Assist in disaster recovery planning, backup, and business continuity.

Required Skills & Certifications :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in operations / DevOps roles (or 3+ years at senior level).

Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.

Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell).

Experience with CI / CD tools.

Deep familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).

Experience in release / change management, versioning, rollback strategies.

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Skills & Certifications :

Experience in government / regulated / public sector.

Experience with security automation (DevSecOps), secrets management.

Certifications (e.g. AWS, Azure, Kubernetes).

Experience in hybrid / multi-cloud environments.

Experience with high-availability / autoscaling design.
