Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a current CA license and advanced certifications to work night shifts in an acute care setting with floating requirements.
Responsibilities
Work in an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care hospitalPrimary patient population includes medical ICU casesPatient ratios are typically 1 : 1-2Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience preferred but not requiredShift schedule is 12-hour nights with every other weekend requiredFrequent floating required between ICU, ER, and Med / Surg units, as well as to sister facilities in the areaBedside report during shift change is expectedICU is adjacent to PACU and features a horseshoe layoutMust be able to manage ventilators and interpret EKG stripsFloors have charge nurses and nurse aides as census and staffing dictateCare for critically ill medical ICU patients including telemetry and vent managementExpected to float to ER and Med / Surg units, as well as to area sister facilities as requiredICU staff include a hospitalist or intensivist in-house, and there is 24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy supportAll staff, including travelers, rotate holiday coverage with core staffOrientation includes 1-2 days on the unit with a preceptorBedside report is required at shift changeScrub color is navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets must be navySterile technique skills for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes will be tested on the first day of orientationFailure on required clinical tests results in disqualification for current and future positions for a specified periodSelf-scheduling is used, with final approval by management and no guarantee of block schedulingRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of applicationMinimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience is requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS (all through AHA)Ability to read and interpret EKG strips is requiredTwo recent supervisor or charge nurse references required, one from the last 12 months and one from the last 3 yearsMust provide a valid driver’s license for considerationCompletion of a Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with a maximum of two attempts allowed; prior passing result within 12 months acceptedCannot have been directly employed by any affiliated systems (CommonSpirit, CHI, Dignity) within the past yearBenefits
