Description :

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical Oncology Unit on the night shift.

Experience in Hematology Oncology is preferred, but not required.

Candidates must have a background in Medical-Surgical nursing.

Staffing ratios aim for 1 : 4, but can be 1 : 5 based on patient needs.

Weekend shifts may vary according to unit needs.

No set or blocked scheduling is offered for permanent staff.

Self-schedule requests are encouraged to accommodate preferred schedules.

All candidates must have certifications in BLS and ACLS.

Oncology experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities include managing patient care for various diagnoses such as Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Acute and Chronic Leukemias, Sickle Cell Disease, and other benign hematology conditions.

Nurses will perform special procedures such as chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotic therapy.

There will be a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and preventing patient falls.

Candidates must have skills in telemetry interpretation, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line management.

Experience with computerized charting systems is essential.

The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration.

The average daily census for this unit is 31 patients, with a capacity of 36 beds.

Nurses will work with various support services, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Pharmacy.
