Position Title and Salary : Court Services Officer, grade 36, $58,404 annually

Job Duties : This is a juvenile CSO position, with an emphasis on supervision of Child In Need of Care (CINC) cases. This position may also supervise juvenile offenders as needed, but the majority of caseload will be working with Child in Need of Care cases. This CSO will work closely with parents, schools, and service providers to address client needs. Interview clients and families and compile information for reports and testimony for the court regarding disposition / sentencing and possible placement options. Maintain timely and accurate chronological records on each client. Identify client needs and make appropriate community referrals as necessary. This position requires frequent court appearances and court report writing. While home visits may be conducted when warranted, this job is in the Shawnee County courthouse with office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Position description and job duties subject to change based upon the needs of the Court and agency. Limited remote work privileges available upon completion of a one-year probationary period.

Required Education and Experience : Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice or other human services related field.

Preferred qualifications : Proven verbal and written communication skills. A minimum of one year experience in one or more of the following within the past five years :

  • Conducting interviews
  • Writing formal reports
  • Working with juveniles and / or families
  • Working with clients with substance abuse and / or mental health issues
