Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position requiring SD / PCU experience and proficiency with EPIC EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Cardiac Stepdown unit with a typical patient ratio of 1 : 5-6
  • Patient population includes heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and drug or ETOH overdose / withdrawal
  • Competency with IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin required
  • Uses EPIC EMR system
  • Day shift schedule : 4x12-hour shifts, 7 : 00 to 19 : 30
  • Floating required to other affiliated campuses within 15 miles
  • Traveler will be the first to float as needed
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Provide care for a diverse cardiac and stepdown patient population
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • RTO must be requested with initial application and is subject to manager approval
  • Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives
  • Premier Health may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract or terminate contract with 2 weeks' notice
  • Must support and assist the nursing care team on floated units as needed

    • Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent SD / PCU experience with documented 1 : 5 ratio
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
  • IV start competency required
  • EPIC experience required
  • Ability to be fitted for N95 respirator prior to assignment, or use PAPR if needed
  • Travel nursing experience and Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
  • Locals within 50 miles are not eligible
